Accessibility
We want Landfill Watch to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technologies or alternative input methods.

Our approach
We design and develop Landfill Watch toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. This includes semantic structure, keyboard access, visible focus, readable contrast, responsive layouts, reduced-motion support, and text alternatives for meaningful imagery.
Landfill Watch has not yet completed a formal independent accessibility audit. We therefore do not currently claim full WCAG 2.2 AA conformance.
Measures in the service
- Public pages use landmarks and a logical heading hierarchy.
- Navigation and controls are designed for keyboard and touch input, with visible focus treatment and accessible names.
- Light and dark themes use a shared semantic colour system rather than relying on colour alone to communicate product state.
- Animations are limited and honour reduced-motion preferences where motion is used.
- The Moldova case study keeps material facts, caveats, and sources in readable document content outside the interactive map.
Known limitations
Interactive geospatial maps remain the most complex part of the service. Some map exploration, feature picking, drag gestures, and third-party raster imagery may not provide an equivalent experience for every assistive technology. Essential case-study information is also presented as text, but not every exploratory map state has a complete text equivalent yet.
Third-party authentication and map services can introduce interfaces or content outside ClimateScope's direct control. We still welcome reports about barriers encountered while reaching or using those services through Landfill Watch.
Report a barrier or request an alternative
If you cannot access content or complete a task, email info@climatescope.io. Please include the page or feature, what you were trying to do, and any browser or assistive technology details you are comfortable sharing. You may also ask for information in an alternative accessible format.
We will review the request, confirm receipt, and work toward a practical response or alternative. Accessibility feedback is used to prioritise fixes and future audits.
Assessment and review
This statement is based on internal review of the current public routes and documented product practices. It will be updated after a formal audit, a material redesign, or a significant change to the interactive map experience.
